QuestPump

Every quest you turn in costs a set.

Beat your record, one rep at a time. A character sheet for your body.

QuestPump is a free add-on for World of Warcraft. When you turn in a quest, it asks for a pump: a few moves beside your desk, from push-ups and squats to running on the spot, stretches and yoga. A plan for the day keeps them in balance, and a harder quest asks for more moves. You press Start, do the move and type how many you made. Next time, a strength move asks for a step past your recent best, and less when you do it again the same day. Your records, stars and ladders grow on a sheet beside your character.

How it works

  1. Turn in a quest. When your character stands still, the pump opens.
  2. Press Start, count down, do the set, type your count.
  3. Beat your record, one rep at a time. A miss costs nothing, and the record stands.
  4. Climb the ladders: a harder move unlocks when you master the one before.

The helper

The free QuestPump Helper for Mac and Windows is strongly recommended: it keeps your progress in the game's folder and pairs your phone. Download the helper.

Status

In development, planned for the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever. The add-on will be free and open source (MIT licence). It needs no account, and nothing you type leaves your computer and your paired devices unless you share it.

Safety

A game, not medical advice. Stop and get help for chest pain, fainting, unusual breathlessness or a racing heart. Severe muscle pain, swelling or dark urine after a session needs a doctor that day. Ask a clinician first if you have heart, lung, kidney or metabolic disease or high blood pressure, are pregnant or had recent surgery.

Every move can be switched off in the settings, and a pain flag removes the moves that load a sore joint.
